The main part of this programme is supporting you to achieve a Level 1 Sports Leadership Qualification, which will give you the experience and knowledge to develop your leadership skills in both a classroom and practical setting. Throughout the qualification, you'll receive support to plan, deliver and evaluate your very own sport/physical activity sessions. Towards the end of the qualification, you'll complete a demonstration of leadership, volunteering alongside our staff in a Youth Work and Sport setting - think of this as a mini-placement where you'll be able refer to this experience on your CV and in interviews.
The qualification is essential for developing your soft skills including communication and improving confidence, key transferable skills which employers look for.

Youth Mental Health Awareness
We'll also be providing you with an extra qualification in the format of three, one-hour workshops dedicated to a Youth Mental Health Awareness, accredited by Mental Health First Aid England (MHFA England). Extra workshops will also be delivered by our expert Youth Workers. Topics include physical wellbeing, to help you look after your own mental health, and confidence building which will help you in interview situations and move into (or back into) work.
All the above is delivered by Qualified & Professional Tutors, Mentors, Sports Coaches and Youth Workers who have years of experience delivering similar programmes across Coventry and Warwickshire, and the UK. All employees connected with Aptitude are of genuine character, so a positive learning environment is guaranteed.
Suitable and committed programme participants may be considered for voluntary and paid employment with Aptitude, as well recommendation to our partner organisations across Coventry and Warwickshire.
Are you eligible to participate in this programme?
Thanks to this project being funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) and the Education and Skills Funding Agency, and supported by the Local Enterprise Partnership, this programme is completely FREE for adults who are unemployed or economically inactive.
‘Unemployed’ refers to persons who are without work, available for work and actively seeking work.
'Economically Inactive' means you're not in employment and not registered as unemployed. Please note that although students are considered as inactive, students are not eligible for this provision, as they are not available for work.
